I am writing this today to tell everyone why I decided to join Flatiron to learn how coding. My name is Brandon Stephens. I have very little in terms of background or knowledge in coding. However, the idea of coding has been something that has interested me for some time. Let us start from the beginning.

I first started to become interested in coding while I was is high school. I went to school at the Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Oklahoma. My sophomore year I was able to take a class on web design. The class itself was very simple where I learned the basics to HTML and JavaScript. Unfortunately, this class was the only thing my high school offered in term of coding, and I was only able to get a taste of what coding could do.

I first applied to the Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU for short) with the hopes to continue my education into coding. My first year I was unable to take any classes in my desired field. Instead, I decided to focus on my general education classes to get them out of the way. When it came time for my second year, I was excited to finally start working towards my dream education. Not to long into the year I fell victim to unfortunate circumstances. At the time, I was rooming with someone who I had believed to be my friend. During that time this person ended up stealing a few thousand dollars from me. Because of that I was unable to complete my education and ended up dropping out of college .

A few years later I met Desiree. At first we were only friends who worked at the same location. Later on down the road we started a relationship together. During our relationship, Desiree helped me to get my life back on track, and pushed me in the right direction to achieve my dream education. Now I have applied to the flatiron school and started the software design course. I have taken the first steps to making a better future for myself.
